SEVEN-A-SIDE TOURNAMENT.
LITTLEJOHN SHIELD WON BY COLLEGE.
HARPER SHIELD BY RIVAL B
', The. annual seven-a-side tournament under the of the Nelson Rugby Union for the Littlejohn and Harper shields,, for_ senior and third-class players respectively, ■ took-place .at Trafalgar Park yesterday aft-ernoon, and in spite of the unfavourable weather conditions was witnessed by a large attendance of spectators. The band of the 12th Regiment was present, and played several selections. During tho play there were one or two heavy showers, which made the ball slippery and the ground heavy, consequently the display of football was not quite as brilliant as -usual; The College team carried off • the" honours in the senior competition, after a closely contested game with Old Boys, who had played two hard games before competing in the final, as against one match by their opponents. It was evident in-the.con-cluding stages of the final that the Old Boy© were feeling the effects of the previous games, and the College lasted long enough to win by eight points to six. In the third-class competition there were some really good games. The Stoke Orphanage boys played well, and were unlucky not to get in the final, which was between Rival B and Waimea A teams, the former winning by three points to nil. The winners played four games,'arid thoroughly deserved their victory. The matches were got off punctually to time, and the tournament, which; comprised sixteen matches, was-over before five o'clock. Messrs Logaja, Boon, Beach, Treweek, Papps, and Johnston refere-ed the various matches. Details of the scores are as follows:— -
