UNEMPLOYED AT DUNEDIN.
TO BE GIVEN RAILWAY WORK
Dunedin, June 2. With reference to the unemployed, the Prim© Minister has received a telegram from the Minister of Public Works, who says he gave instructions some days ago to the district engineer, who has been wanting men for some time past, to send the unemployed to the Roxburgh railway and the Oatlins railway or any works he has in hand. Mr. Herries says the Railway Department will probably be able to "find some additional employment in the course of a few days, but he cannot state definitely how many men will be required. Men will probably be required in connection with the railway workshops. The Prime Minister is also making inquiries with regard to work which it is intended to put in hand at Seacliff.
