FOOTBALL. NELSON RUGBY UNION. The weekly meeting of the Management committee of- the Nelson Rugby Football Union was held last night in Stallard'a rooms.—There were present: Messrs R. W. Stiles- (president), D. Smith, ■ Oldershaw, Hurley,, Logan, Papps, Baigent, and the secretary. Several applications for reinstatement from Northern" League players were received. ' Notice was received from the Buller Union accepting th© Nel&on Union's challenge for a Seddon shield match this season. Cup matches under the control of the Union commence next Saturday, and the fixtures set down to be played are as follows:— Senior:— Rival v.. Waimea, Trafalgar Park, 3 p.m. Junior: — . ■ .." . Rival v. Old Boys, Trafalgar Park, 2 p.m. Rover v. Hope Pirates, Richmond, 3 p.m. THE AMATEUR STATUS. The committee of the North Shore District Football Club (Auckland) desdro to remove from the minds of amateur Rugby players at Devonport a mistaken idea at present existing, namely, that because a player signs a registration form of a Rugby; League club he cannot again enter amateur ranks. Until such time as_ a player takes part in a cup competition match ■under League rules lie is perfectly eligible to play under the Auckland Rngby Union.—"Weekly News."
