In the bush at Ohutu this irorniflg, Patrick Moore w.a-s ramming a heavy charge of blasting powder to make a way for a train line, when it exploded prematurely, and he received the full effects in the face. The accident blinded hinij and there is little hope of his recovering his eyesight. His left hand was also badly mangled.
