Tokio, April 9. The D-jViager-Empresrl is dead.

The late Emperor Muteuhito married on February 9th, 1869, at the ancient capital, Kyoto, Princess Haru, daughter of Prince tchijo, "a lady," said the writer of a memoir of the Emperor, "whose'life has been one long senesof deeds of duty and ehari+y performed will all the sweet unselfishness and grace that distinguishes the character of Japanese women."
