Invercargill, Fob. 10. - The inter-provincial cricket match, Southland v. Canterbury, was commenced to-day. The start was delayed till three o'clock owing to rain. Soirthland batted first, and made 100 runs;. Bannerman 24 % D. Hamilton 23, Groves 17, Pool 23. Bowling analysis: Bennett took two wickets f0r.,41 runs, Wilson 8 for 56. Canterbury had made 55 for three wickets, when time was called ; Whitta 27, Caygill (not out) 6, Patrick (not oui) 8. Bowling analysis: Doige took two wickets for 29 runs, Groves one for 27. •
