SWIMMING.

(Notes by "Crawl.")

The.Nelson Club's sports were a big success. TUe weather was not very good, but there was a fair attendance of the public.

The 220 yards centre championship was won by Victor Trott in good time of 2min. 52sec. Considering that he is only 17 years of age, it is a splendid performance.

I was glad to see Hood win. the maiden rave. He has tried hard every season, and thoroughly deserved his win. It is a pity his ieg gave out in the 50 yards inter-club.

Condell, off scratch, won the 50 yards inter-club. He is a really firstclass swimmer.

Westvupp's win in the 100 yards breast stroke handicap was a good performance. He has a grand stroke, and with a training should make a good swimmer.

Fred. Hamilton had an easy win in the all schools championships Win■stanley swam well, and got second nlace. Both of these boys are very keen.

. The dive was won by H. Trott. This is the third time this year he has won a diving competition. He also won the 100 yards inter-club.

Oldershaw's team had an easy win in the relay race. The team was: Bristed, V. Trott, Clark, Oldershaw. Owing to the water being too shallow the life-saving event and polo match had to be abandoned. The club intends Raiding the life-saving event at the club's championship meeting. The club's 100, 200, and 400 chammonshin for Dr. Andrew's cup will be held this month, at the Port.

There is a movement on foot to.arrange a race across the harbour from the magazine to the.. Rowing Club's shed. Such a race no doubt Avill cause a lot of excitement. .

Messrs. Saunders, Bush, Clark, and B'-istfid. of the Nelson Club, have been selected to represent the Nelson Cen-i'-n i" rh<* nolo championship t& be held at Blenheim. Skipper Francis, who i« at present in Nohon, has been, picked to renresent Nelson also. He is a grand polo player, and will be a tower of strength to the Nelson team..
