The Ne»v Zealand v. South Australia match was resumed in fine but windy weather. The wicket was excellent. The attendance numbered 1000. The receipts for the match exceeded tte guarantee. Scoring began at a good rate against the bowling of Crawford and Willsriiore. At 69 Howard relieved the latter. In his first over Tnckw.ill was missed by Hill in the slips, but was then caught at short stop. He,batted steadily. Hickmott was quickly yorked—4 for 79. Sneddon completed his 50 in 85 minutes, and then was very quiet, till given out leg before. He batted artistically for 100 minutes, and hit three fourers —5 for 104. At the luncheon adjournment the total stood at 116. On resuming, Reese, at .24, was missed in the clips. Then Reese hit fiercely, while Taylor was extremely cautious. All the bowling came the same to Reese, who hit a sixer to long-on. It was the biggest smite of the match. When 85 Rundell missed him off a soft return, and when S9 he was dropped at long-on. He reached his century in a hundred minutes, the last fifty taking 35 minutes. Taylor was caught in the slips. He batted soundly for 130 minutes, and gave two difficult chances for stumping—6 for 253. At the tea adjourn nent the innings was declared. Reese batted for 140 minutes, and hit 12 fourers.
