TENDER FOR SALVAGING

Dunedin, Oct. 14. It is understood that the tender of a Port Chalmers syndicate (known as the Kpputai Syndicate) has been accepted for salvaging the gear and cargo of the wrecked steamer Tyrone. R. Miller, a well-known diver, is one of tb© principal members of the syndicate. The terms of the tender, it is 1 said, are that the salvors w vill recenve about three-quarters of whatever is saved from th«- vessel. The sea is gradually accomplishing its work of destruction. All the cabin doors on the starboard side have been ©tovo in, s,nd the sea has started to rip off the hatches. Waves are to be se*en washing up on the deck, and then finding their way down tho hatchways into the holds.
Tliis afternoon 13 officers (deck and engine room) and 19 seamen from the Tyrone, sailed by the Monowai for "Wellington, where they will embark on the Ruapefru for London. Captain B&aura'ont (superintendent of mercantile marine) has been very busy in the past fow days arranging for.-the passages. When London is reached the ■■• officers and men will be distributed to their homes by the Board Sof Trade. ' ' '■-...- ■:■■
