NELSON KENNEL CLUB.

- : —■ m r- . ;-■ > ' ANNUAL,"SHOW. ' ' : The Nelson. Kcnnol Club's annual show was-opened at the Diik tolled -yesterday. The entries are again large, particularly in the classes for greyhounds, pointers, setters, and cocker spaniels, while the ladies' bracelet also attracted a record entry. On the whole tho; high standard of quality, noticeable at previous shoAvs is fully maintained. Breeds new to Nelson were Great Danes exhibited by Mr. A. K. Baxter, and French poodles shown by Mr. F. H. Durbridge, and thesedogs attracted a good. deal of attention. There was considerable dissatisfaction among, the exhibitors with some of the awards of the judge- (Mr. W. Stafford, of Christchurch)j who got through the whole of the classes by two o'clock, and left by steamer for Wellington at 2.30, exhibitors contending that with tho limited time at his disposal he was unable to give proper consideration to the points of the various dogs under review. Exception was also taken to some of the specials being awarded from the-cata-logue, instead pf in the hall, where 'the dogs could be inspected. ; The field trials in connection' with the show will be held at Trafalgar Park to-day, commencing at 10 o'clock. Twenty-five entries have been received, and the competition should last all day. ■ Spectators are asked to occupy the pavilion, in order not to interfere with the working of the dogs. The show will be open all day toFollowing is the prize list :—* GREAT DANES. Dogs, opeii; A- X, Baxters Devil-mav-caro, 1. .B~itch.es, ope»; A, X, Baxter's Thora, ,1; A. K.
