WELLINGTON SKINS AND HIDES SALE.

i Messrs. E. Buxton and Co., Ltd., ! report on tlio usual fortnightly sale held at Wellington on Friday, 19th instant, as under: — Good catalogues of wool, skins, • hides, etc., were offered at the fortnightly sale to a good attendance of buyers, and with keen competition for the various lots. Tho advance in k prices recently cabled from Home markets was reflected in the bidding for wool and skins to the extent of \d per Jb. advance. There was keen enquiry for ox hides at last sale's value, but cow hides showed a slight downward tendency. Tallow remained firm, with very little offering. Prices ruled as under: — ■~ Wool: Crossbred fleece, 8d to 9£d; pieces and crutchings, 6;V to 7^d; locks and inferior pieces, 3d to s|d. Skins: Half and three-quarter breds, j B}d to 9d; crossbreds, medium to fine Sid to 9d ; coarse 7£d to. B^d ; dead,and broken, 5d to 7^d; short and inferior, 3d to 53d. '<> Hides: Ox, heavy Bfd to 9d, medium B|d to Bfd, light 8d to B\d ; cow medium and heuvy B<d to BJd, light 8d to B£d; cut, slippy, and inferior, 5d to 7^d; bulls and" stags, 5d to 6d; calfskins, best, lOcl to Is, medium to good 9d to 19, inferior 4d to Sid. Tallow: Casks, 25s to 28s; tins, 20s to 255. The next sale will be held on Friday, 3rd October, therefore clients wishing to take advantage of our system..of handling consignments will kindly forward their lots to the bulk stores be- , fore the 30th instant.
