NELSON FIRE BRIGADE.
The annual meeting of the. Nelson Volunteer Fire Brigade was held in tba station room last night, Captain Woodward being in the chair. After the routine business had been gone through, the election of officers took place, when the following ware duly re-elected: Captain Woodward,. Lieutenant Dee; Foreman No. 1 ho«e reel, Fireman H. Stewart; foreman No 2 hose reel, Fireman J. Nesbitt, foreman hook and ladder, Fireman W. Woodward ; secretary, E. E. Boyes j. treasurer, E. Hounsell; hon. surgeon, Dr. Andrew. Captain Woodward congratulated the members on re-electing the itofficers again, as it showed that they were working harmoniously, together for the best interests of fire prevention in the city. Another officer.was worthy of note, viz., Treasurer Hounsell, no having held that .-office, far 20 years, which was a record. The members then spent a few hours in a social manner amongst themselves the following toasts being honoured : "The King," "Captain and Officers," and "Men of the Nelson Volunteer Fire, Brigade." The following members contributed to tho- harmony oT the evening: Firemen W. Woodward, C. Woodward, Barltrop, H. Bright, W. Watson, E. Woodward, T. Harris, H. Bennett, and the secretary. During the evening tho Captain had. the .pleasing task of presenting Firemen H. Bright and W. Bennett with the five years' service medal, and tire recipients received tho hearty congratulations of their comrades.
