COWBOY'S ADVENTURE.

Bob Slado, a cowboy, of Meeker, Colorado, has had an experience sufficient to turn his hair grey. Slade was riding through tho woods, when a huge grizzly bear suddenly appeared in'the track, and the horse was so frightened that it turned a complete somersault, threw its rider, and bolted back to camp. The fall prevented the cowboy from bolting up n tree, and he adopted a daring expedient. Facing the bear, who was advancing towards him, ho crawled backwards on. hie hands and knees. For more than a mile ho kept this up, until tho skin was torn from the palms of his hands and his knees were painfully sore. When ho was almost at the- point of collapse a bullet brought down the bear, who was then within a couplo of feet of the agonised man. The return of the riderless horse had brought out a search party.
