Great interest ha-s boon manifested by Nelson dog lovers in the ■Wellington Konnol Club's annual show, winch was held on Wednesday <«ul' Thursday. Some 25 dogs, accompanied by so mo local enthusiasts, went aver, and generally speaking, wade an excellent showing against the. Wellington dogs ; especially was this so in English settors, bulldogs and cocker spaniels. Mr liaxtcr showed the only Gi'eat Dana m tho show, aad it came in for a groat deal of attention. In bulldogs Mr. Allan was sut'cossiul with Wharekoki Mars, with 4 firsts to his credit; Mr. Young also had lour firsts with liromloy Stone Biddy, but competition was poor, only another bitch being shown ni each class. English setters were comparatively large -classo, and contained some e-x----colfont repre&entativos- of tho breed. jn dogs Mr. Hco. Walker secured throe seconds with Rock's Astonishment, and Mr. Piko two thirds with Rocky Patch ; Elliott Bros, also one third with Hazel Rtfck; in bitches, Elliott Bras, had a good win with Sweet iNell; of Brook, getting three first>-*}n"es !>>lso Jirst :n brae-e with Nell ana'another* In Irish betcurs Mr. Crisp scored one iirst and one ee-cqnd -with Id stone Doono. This'dog, for hi? ago (six months) shows wonderful tiro misc. In /Cockers, twine dogs of fine quality wora boncha'd, both in black and .■coloured, but numbers wore disappointing, there bring only seven do^s and Voiyht' bitches in the fifteen black' classes"' and six dogs and nine bitches in the fifteen other than black classes. Mr Crisp was successful in this section. With his English importation Stour Right Sort he got two firsts, special, ;iad ivAka1 braceiot, with Vogol I'riu<:esa six seconds. Vogcl Kose four &eco.nds, and \'ogol Gipsy three weeonds/ Mr Wo nicy won two thirds with Vogel ilufus, and third with llilo Blue lk-11. During recent years, owing to the activity "<u' the Wellington Fox Terrier Club who lia-.-e got together a nue_lot of trophies and stakes, for competition, the Wellington i-'.how is looked upon at tho .chief show of the .year, and this vea-r was no except ion, there being .'Ttirgo nuuibt-rs i-.nd very. In- maidvn •dogs 23 faced the, judge,, the' winner turned up in Divers Double, a recent i.mp'ortatioii (at n cost of £60) from England ; tho s-vGCond. dog was Wakatu l);i.pp^r, roc; ntly ncquirod from the W'.'.katu Kcsv.um's, iSokon, by Mr. Trent. Dripper also wins a rose bowi for best mtiiden fox terrier do<*s In dog pujipies under six inwiths, Mr. A. G. JJotts' Wakatu DiiF.kv. a very wound specimen, won well in a ck:.'» of "1-1; Birchlcy Beivoir jilao got two thirds and one first. M'oorfiekl Rusk secured a second, in brood bifch cbr-s for Xv. A. G. .liotts. Ti:o aamo owner's Walcatu Donna, a)>out tho bret bitch yet bred in these kennels was "ring shy" ■so had ho chanco in tin; hob competition of the day.
