LANDING OF REV. SAMUEL MARSDEN.

CELEBRATION OF CENTENARi

Wellington, Aug. 21

A well-attended meeting was held in tho Town Hall last night to consider the question of a fitting celebration of tho contenary, in 19.14, of tho landing of tho Rev. Samuel Marsden and the first mission of the Church of England to New Zealand. Bishop Sprott presided, and there were also present, the Primate (Bishop Nevill), and Bishops Averill and Julius. Bishop Julius said that it had been decided to hold a celebration at tho Bay of Islands, and also ci missionary pageant in Wellington. A momorial fund would be raised, and the promoters were plodg-sd to give £000 to the Bible in Schools fund. The remainder will bo devoted to erecting a memorial church at the spot where Marsden landed, or where there was a permanent population.
