WAI-ITI.

Tho weekly * meeting of the Wai-iti Literary and Debating Society was held as usual on Thursday,evening'last,. July. 17th. Mr. J. Lines occupied the chair. There was a good attendance, including ■several visitors. Tho business of - the evening was a discussion "Our Opinions of Local Bodies." The Waimea County Council, the Education and Charitable AH Boards, and schoor'committees cam© in for a fair amount of criticism, complimentary and otherwise.. The discussion was carried on with spirit, and a pleasant evening spent. A vote of thanks was accorded the chairman. Tho question, "That Immigration to New Zealand should be Encouraged" will be debated this week.
