SHORTCOMINGS OF JOCKEYS.
RECKLESS RIDING COMMON
FOUL PRACTICES INFREQUENT,
London, July 18
Lord Durham, giving evidence in tho Wootton-Sievier libel case, said reckless riding, not foul riding, was more common than it was 20 years ago. The Jockey Club had not heard a charge of pulling for some years. Owners were entitled to run unfit horses two or three times for tho purpose of seasoning them.
Lord Lonsdalo gave evidence that no sportsman would continue to run a horse shown to be unfit.
