EXCITING RESCUE.
As the liner Akabo was leaving the Liverpool landing stage for West Africa the other day a woman, about twenty-five, was sitting on a rail waving good-bye to friends when she overbalanced and fe'.l into tho water. Two of the crew at onco dived overboard, one of them, Philip O'Brien, from the upper bridge of. tho .vessel. A strong tide was running, but both reached her and enabled her to clutch a rope with which she was soon pulled on board. One of the men was soon hauled out, but O'Brien was carried a milo away before he was rescued.
