EXECUTION IN CHINA.
Tho Chenchowiu (Hona'n) correspondent of the "North China Herald" ireports that the first execution by the new method, shooting, was carried out there recently, but proved to bo a very (unfortunate affair. As the criminal was being led out of the city gate.. followed by the officials, ho turned Tound and ridiculed them for "escorting" him. This angered "them so much that they ordered him to be set down right there and bo despatched on the spot, and the line of fire being down thiij. street tho result was that one bystander was killed and two wounded! One of the latter died afterwards.
