(Received Juno 22, 5.5 p.m.)

Sydney, Juno 21. Tho third League match, New South Wales v. Nxmv Zealand was played in duli weather, and on a heavy ground. The attendance- was fifteen thousand. Cummins 'replaced McCuc in the Now South Wales forwards- and.P. Williams, a Wigan player, .replaced Auld in the New Zealand forwards. Williams' hooking of tho bail in the scrums was a very valuable asset to tho New Zealan'dcrs.

The New Zoa.'and backs handled tho ball much more cleanly, and.ran in a mora clever style than tho Nc-w South Welshmen. The greatest factor in' New South Wales' downfall was tho loss of tho ball in the scrums. The New Zealand forwards-played solidly in tho pack -and were quicker away to help their backs. Tho te-am showed improved condition, and lasted right out to tho end of the game.

j\rew Zealand had the. benefit of a strong wind in the first spoil, and pressed most of the time. From a pass near the line Manning forced his way over, and shortly afterwards If-' werson kicked a goal from a mark. After keen play Ifwerson mad© a fine run, and passed to Kelly, who scored undor tho posts, Ifwerson converting, Ifwerson also kicked a goal from a ina>rk. New South Wales' only score in this spell was a try by Frawley, who beat several opponents cleverly. At half time the score was: New Zealand 12, New .South Wales 3. The second sp-ell saw New South Wales make a better fight. They scored first, after 'twenty, minutes' struggle, Frawley taking Messenger's pass. Messenger converted. Proebstel then scored an easy try for Now Zealand, ifwers-oii converting. Now South Wales redoubled their efforts, and Broomham scored after a succession of passes. There was no further score, the' final result being:- New Zealand 17, New Soutlr 'Wales 11. Kelly, the New Zealand centra three-qur.rter, was the best player on the ground. Manning and Hw'orson were also very good.- Hayward, Williams, and King were the best of tho New Zealand forwards.
