CANADA'S PILLAR BOXES.

•An enterprising firm has acquired from the Postmaster-General of Canada a license to set up a new and improved pillar-box which will eclipse ours in more ways than one. It will toll you the name of tho street you aro in, it will sell you a stamp or a book of stamps, and receive your letter in tho usual way. Tho new Canadian boxes will be highter and somewhat narrower than ours, but will bo the same colour. At the top will be a sign plate, bearing on both sides tho name of the street, and under this will be a four-sided section on which advertisements will appear, and which,.like tho name-plate, will be lit up at night. The advertisements will revolve, every six seconds, so that each of the four sides will bo brought before the passers-by. ' ' Under the revolving advertisements will be the stamp-selling machine, practically tho same as tho automatic ticket-selling machines which are now

at every underground station, and which work quite well. This will sell single stamps or books of stamps, similar to thoso tho Postmaster-Gen-eral now offers you here—with adveri tisements thrown in.
