Wellington, June 21. Interviewed on the subject of tlie alleged unrest in the Cook Islands, the Hon. Dr. Pomare (who is in charge of the Islands) said that ho had never received any official information from the Islands that there was an upheaval among tho native police. He had received the resignation of Sergeant Holmes, but had no official information that bush beer drinking had increased alarmingly during the last few months. He had been unable to visit the Islands during tho recess, but he hoped to do so after the session.
