TIMARU FREE LABOUR.
DUNEDIN FEDERATION BALLOT,
Dunetiin, Juno 20. Tho Dunedin Waterside Workers' Union hoid a secret ballot on Thursday on tho questions submitted to it by tho Federation of Labour. Tko questions practically asked tho local union whether it was prepared to take any action •to fight again-st tho recognition of the Timaru Water sido Workers' Union, which has been registered under tho Arbitration Act. Tho ballot papers wero counted this afternoon, and, though it was decided not to make public tho results of tho voting, it is imdorstood that a considerable majority of the workers voted against any action boing taken in tho meantime. The men apparently aro looking forward to the holding or tho big unity labour conference in Wellington in July, as likely to give them a pointer as to what action they should ultimately take.
