MURCHISON.
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
A meeting of the Axemen's and Sports Club- was held in Stockton's room on June lGth. Present^: Messrs. J. Stockton, M. Rogers, J. O'Regan, •T. Oxnam, S. -L. Fairliall, and V. Spiers. Mr. S. L. Fairhall was voted to the chair. A deputation of tho Sports and Pastimes' •• Committee, consisting of Messrs. Clayton and T. Anderson' waited on the committeo with regard to holding an -athletic meeting- on the day after Boxing Day, December 27th, and soliciting the assistance of the Axemen's Club. It was suggested that January Ist would bo a better day than December 27th. Mr. J. O'Regan- strongly opposed January Ist, as that date was the regular" meeting time of the Fern Flat sports for very many years, and it would be unwise to interfero with such an old established gathering. j After a short argument the deputation withdrew, thanking the Axemen s Club for the information they received and assistance offered. On the motion of Mr. Michael Rogers, seconded by Mr. J. O'Regan, it was' resolved that the- accounts be Oii tho motion of Mossrs. O'Regan nnd Stockton it was resolved that Mr. Bennitt, tho secretary, be paid £8, including the clearing of the Domain ot all chips and wood from the last chop. It was resolved on the motion ot Messrs O'Regan and J. Oxnam that the band receive £2, and on the motion of Messrs. Fairliall and o'Regan that Mr.a. Rouse, Kiunara, receive £1 Is for handicapping for this and last

Fairhall arid O'Regan that a letter'of thanks, with a list of'names, be sent to all subscribers of os. and upwards, the drafting of the letter to be left to Mr. Fairhall and the sscre- ' It'was resolved that Mr. Clayton bo asked, to audit the accounts. . On tho motion of.. Messrs. V.-Spiers, and Rogers it was resolved that Air. Harris, of Wakefield, be thanked lor his offer of a silver cup for tho nest carnival. „ It was resolved on the motion or Messrs. Rogers and O'ltegan that an account bo opened in .the Post Office Savings Bank by Mr. Stockton and tho secretary. - On tho motion of Messrs. Fairhali and O'Eegan it was resolved that the club thank tho secretary, and also the judge, Mr. Badeock, for their services.
