CORRESPONDENCE.
BIBLE IN SCHOOLS LEAGUE
(To the Editor of "The Colonist.")
Sir, —I do not know to whom tho" honour of initiating tho movement in favour of the so-called New South Wales system belongs, but it is a very happy circumstance that tho Anglican General Synod, the Presbyterian General Assembly, the Methodist Conference, and the Salvation Army are* united on the subject. I think, however, that the Rev. J. H. Maclvonzio will find on fresh investigation of the* matter that he is in orror when h© states that "this has boon the pofe scheme of tho Anglican Synods for the last thirty years." The General Synod, for more than thirty years has considered the deplorable fact that there i« no religious education of any kind given, in the State school*. It has from tim« to time passed resolutions suggesting a, variety of methods by which such education might be imparted, but the socalled New South Wales system was not adopted by the General Synod until 1910. I am, etc., WILLIAM C. NELSON. 19th June, 1913.
