A most successful concert was hold in.' St. John's Methodist"Hall last evening by the Young Women'r. Bible Class, thiyproceods to be demoted to the piano i'und. An excellent programme, had' been, arranged, and. it was listened t<v by an exceeding'.y large audience. That the items rendered pleased the hearers was shown by tho fact that every item< was encored. Tho result of the undertaking ha.g b-con very gratifying to tho member?.* of the class, as a large sum was raised. Tho programme was as follows: Pianoforte solo, Mir*s Joyce; song, Miss E. Howe; song, Mr. Taylor: !';;slo and chorus, "Big Moon," M'itss .P>. Trussing: song, Mr. White; song, Mi.ss Lonsdhle; song, Mr C. TopJiss: pianoforte duct, Miss P. Israel and' Mi1. A. Rout: vocal selection, Mr. Allon : recitation, Mr. N. Yercoe;' song Mit,s Jacobs; vocal duet, "You s»d. I"Miw, IJ. Prussing and Mr. C. Topliss-; duet (vialiri and pianoforte) tho Misses Joyce : song, Miss E. Rcnve ; recitation, Mr. Black. After tho concert tho performers partook of a supper, at which, the Ivev. W. Jkuimber presided. Ho moved a hearty vote of thanks to Miss Israel, who had organised the concert, and to whom was largely duo, the success which attf-nded it. This was carried by acclamation.
A. ino.«;t enjoyable concert was givento the boys of tho Stoke Industrial Schoo! on Wednesday night last by a party of gentlemen from Nelson. Mr A. G. Thompson was responsible for tho organisation of tho programme, and the quality of the items reflect great credit upon both him and the various performers. After the concert tho party adjourned for refreshments, which were provided by Mr and Mrs Bradstock. The visitors were* Messrs. Brundcll, Allen, Thompson. Dirnant, Field, Taylor (2), Rout, and Glover. It is hoped that this concert will bo the forerunner of many subsequent ones, as Mr Bmdstock, the manager, is anxious that the public should take more interest in tho institution by visiting it as often as they can, «ml doing what may bo j)os.sible> to brighten tho lot of the boys.

Tire parade marched from the cricket ground to the Post Office* where .the flngv.;^! saluted.
