A heated discussion took place at a meeting of the committee of the Otago Rugby Union to-night, concerning allegations of rough play in the Alhambra v. Kaikorai senior match on Saturday. Tho question was introduced by a report from the referee, Mr. !oo'.v~ land, who had ordered Choyco (Alhambra) off tho field on a .charge- of -striking M. McDonald (Kaikorai). Mr. White referred to the roughness of the play. Tho chairman (Mr. Harris) who was not present, at the match, said he had been deluged with deputations that morning, find from what ho could gather the play had been unnecessarily rough. From what ho had been told the referee would have been justified in closing the game. Members of tho committee who w^ere at the match said the p.ay was unnecessarily_ rough, but ■stated their inability to give tho names of the players concerned. .It was decided to request the captain and deputy-captain of the Alhambra team, the captain andDryden, <.f Kaikorai, a member of the committee Joi" each club, the refereo, and Choyco to attend the next meeting.
