To-day's Federal election returns have not affected the position of the partios. Though "the absentee votes have yet to be counted in almost every electorate, they are not regarded as likely to do more than vary to a more or less considerable extent tho individual majorities already established. The Senate figures also tend to emphasise the position already notified. Tho referenda returns, though they show a slight affirmative majority, are not sufficiently representative yet for any deductions to bo made. • The Noes are leading in New South

Wales. In the Wakcficld electorate, South Australia, which was previously classed as a Labour gain, the Liberal candidato is now leading by over 1500

votes,
