LOST OVERBOARD.

A SEAMAN DROWNED

While on the trip from Nelson to Waitapu, a Beaman on the Wairoa, named Harold Clements, eldest son of Mr. George Clements, of Nelson, was lost overboard, when tho vessel was off Tonga. The W'jjnoa- left Nelson on Sunday night on her usual trip to Takaka and Colliugwood, and from the meagre particulars available- it appears that when oif Tougr, Captain Ricketts relieved OlcMnents at tho wheel at 1 v.m. The latter wx^nt forward and was never seen again. As soon as he was missed search was made, but no trace was found of the unfortunate young man. There wa« <i strong northerly gakv blowing in Kelson early yesterday morning,, with a heavy sea in tho Bay, «nd tho probabilities are that Clements was washed overboard. The Wairoa is at Collingwood.
