Christchurch, May 29. Tho provincial conference of the Farmers' Union discussed a motion concerning tho waterside workers, protesting Against any agreements by the shipping communes with labour organisations other than under tho Arbitration Act.

Mr. R. Evans said that he was prepared to stake- his reputation < m the ■statement tlir.t the scheme originated with the Union Company in Dune din. He declared that ho know more than he had stated to the conference, but had said only what he could easily prove.

Mr. Horrell said that .abundant evidence had been advanced at the meeting of tho Chamber of Commerce to show there luul been negotiations.
