Messrs. Stone and x Son, and Co., Ltd., forward us a copy of the 12th issue of their "Canterbury, Nelson, Marlboro-ugh and West'and Directory, and Now Zealand Annual." The high standard of former years has been maintained in the work under notice, the directory matter being as accurate as is possible, and very wmpieriensive. Street directories are given of all towns a<3 well as a general alphabetical directory of the four provinces combined, and eacli country district has its own directory alphabetically arranged. Local bodies and societies have a separate section with lists of officials, dat^s and places of meeting, etc., making a valuable addition to the personal and trades directories. Great care has evidently been taken in the compilation, names and addresses being obtained by means of a house-,to house canvass, and the other information obtained from official sources. The New Zealand Annual comprises some 150 pages of commercial, statistical and general information relating to the Dominion, including the Customs tariff etc.-; the whole being brought right up-to-date and forming a useful reference book.
