MURDER OF OVERTON,

MAIN COMMITTED FOR TRIAL-

Sydney, May 27

Allen Main has been committed for trial on a charge of murdering E. J. Overton. In a statement to the police he declared that he fired the first shot to frighten Overton, and did not intend to hit, him; and the second shot wan fired when Overton was holding him down, and he intended to hit him arm.

Main handed over the stolen jewellery at the time of his arrest.

Mr. Overton, who was a laundry proprietor, residing at Manly, wdsfckot on the night of the 6th inst by a burglar who entered his bedroom.
