[United Pkess Associationv]

Chrjstchurch, May 27. Mr, Geo. F. Davis, chairman of directors of tho Ros« Goldfields Company, has received the following 'telegram from the mine manager:. "Although we have been releasing 700 gallons per minutes from the Cassius old workings, the depth of the water has remained for several days at 175' feet* which indicates that there must be. a large area of old working at that level concerning which we have no record. We have succeeded in getting No. 4 bore through to-day to the old workings.
