Thomson, Avho has been in charge of the Eastern Extension Company's station at Cable Bay, leaves ihis Wellington this morning, en route for Manila, wliere he will take charge of the Company's station. Last evening" Mr and-.Mrs. Thomson,, and Mr. Gerald Thomson wore entertained at a dinner in the Masonic Hotel by a number of prominent citizens. Mr. D. R:\Edivsrdt, in proposing -. Mr. Thomson's healtJi, referred to the popularity their guest liad enioyod during his stay in Nelson. He had made many firm friends, who would greatly miss his company. Mr. Ed wauls wished him equal happiness at Manila. Mr. Thomson replied in a bright speech. ..
At the morning service on Sunday at the -.jßathedral no fewer than four bishops officiated. During the service, just prior to the sermon, a pulpit, presented to the Cathedral by the relatives of the late Mrs.' A. S. Richmond in her memory, was dedicated by the Primate, Bishop Nevill. The pulpit, which-is a handsomely carved one, has been erected -nearer the centre nave, and stands higher than tho former one.
"It was announcedaast s St. Mary's Church yesterday morning that Mrs. O'Beirne and her son had presented the Church with a new bell, costing £100, which' was now on its way from Belfast where it was manufactured. After vespers, at St. Mary's Church last evening, the Rev. Father Goggan who lias been transferred to Mcanee., in Ha wire's Bay, was ±h& recipient of a \ purse of sovereigns from the parishioners asa, mark of their esteem- and good .will. Tlie -presentation wasmade by Mi W. TV Ward; and feelingly acknowledged by the recipient. Father Ainswort-b, who "is to -succeed Father Goggan v \vill arrive in Nelson to-morrow morning. ._
