MATCHES AT STOKE.
A pricket match lof considerable lo6a\ interest was played at Stoke on the 21st December between the old residents and the boys of tho Industrial School. On paper the old residents appeared (to bo too strong iqx their opponents, but tho boys, rose to tho occasion and won by 29 runs. In the afternoon tea was dispensed by the Stoke ladies. It was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon's sport, and tho 'gam© and its return match wall in.all probability be regarded as an annual fixture in the'future. A cricket match was playet? on Christmas Day between the Stoke Industrial School and a scratch Stoke. team. The school won by 75 runs, scoring 121 to 46. For tho school McEvoy 53, Pointon 18, and Ormond 12 were the best scorers, and M. Giblin 13 for Stoke. Cuxry, 9 for 12, for the school, and M. Giblin and Taylor i were tho best bowlers.
