MILITARY TRAINING.
Speaking to the Defence Department's votes, Mr Escott demanded a guarantee from the Minister that tho Estimates would not be exceeded.
Tho Hon Jas. Allen replied that the expenditure was heavier this year becauso so much was required for equipment. Lord Kitchener recommended that 30.000 men should be trained, and as this number was being exceeded, tho Department wsuld probably retire some men before their training was complete. Th.2 bulk of this year's camps would take placo after March 31st.
