According to reliable accounts the Turkish right -is meeting with much success, but the commissariat has failed. Bad weather prevented reinforcements landing at the Turkish base at Midia, and consequently Mukhtar Pasha was compelled to sacrifice tho advantage he gained throughout the campaign.

The hostility towards Europeans is increasing, particularly among tho lower classes.
