A .number of theatrical managers are urging the rescinding of a regulation copied from the- London County Council whereby tho use of oil lamps is compulsory in the corridors and exits of theatres and other places of entertainnwnt. Recently a lamp burst with a loud report in tho passage of a^theatre, and tine -audience became alarmed, but a panic was averted. In response to representations tho Tinder-Secretary promised to investigate tho subject.
