WEATHER FORECAST.
Wellington, August 27
The following is the Rev D. O. Bates' weather forecast and summary from 5 p.m. to-day • — Tho barometer has fallen steadily in the south, and is unsteady elsewhere. Cloudiness has extended over many parts of tho Dominion and showers fell about Foveaux Strait, but fair weather has prevailed elsewhere. Strong northerly winds prevail over the South Island and variable breezes in the North. Present indications are far strong westerly winds northward of New Plymouth -and Napier. Northerlies strong to gale elsewhere. A westerly storm area is now apparently developing on tho Tasman Sea. Inspect increasing cloudiness with rain following generally, but especially on the West Coast and soutliorn districts. Tho barometer will probably fall everywhere- and will bo low in the South.
