The hardest frost of the .season in Napier was experienced on Sunday night. There was a heavy fall of snow in the back country.
At Woodville yesterday a man named Richard Stevens was fined 40e- and costs for driving over a child and not stopping to see whether it was hurt.

A 70-foot whale was stranded on Sunday live miles north of Uarrytown (Greymouth). The "Wakatipu Mail" states that a movement has been set on toot to divide the Wakatipu parish into two separate parochial districts, with clergymen in Arrowtown and Queenstown. This is being brought about mainly owing to the unwieicliness of toe parish.
