CORRESPONDENCE.
DOVEDALE SPORTS
(To the Editor of "The Colonist.")
Sir, —I was very much surprised on reading in your paper of the 19th, a report of' a meeting of the Dovedale Sports Club, held on the 13th, which report included a meeting of the. Dispute Committee. The correspondent says, "that after a few letters had been read, to the effect that a certain competitor had competed at Eltham, the committee decided there was not sufficient proof and dismissed the -.protest", _to the dissatisfaction of many members present." That statement was very misleading. 1 may state that th<> competitor denies competing at Eltham, ; and according to the letters received ! from the secretary, of the Eltham Club Jho competed there, and still holds the j money. "Well, I consider until they I prove he was there and get their money I back he is still innocent. There was no certain prcof placed before the Dispute Committee, it was simply one man's word against another. Another point which influenced the committee was that being an unregistered club, and advertising our prize list, the competitor could claim the prize, 'and the 1 Club havel no rvdrcss. With regard to it being to the dissatisfaction of many member;.: i>ror.cint. I may state that the committee carried itr. decision by 4 voter ta 1. and I c?.n prove that 12 members out of ]■') prefmt were in fav- | our of the -clccirion o!: the Dispute I Committee. Trusting this may dear tho imprer.sion left with some readers of your paper. I. am. etc.,_ ONE OF THE DISPUTE COMMITTEE
