SINGLE TAX BILL UNLIKELY.

MR LLOYD GEORGE AND THE

GOVERNMENT.

UNIONISTS' LAND POLICY

(Received July 25, 10.45 p.m.)

London, July 25

Lord Haldano, speaking in the House of Lords, made a non-committal reply to Lord Camperdown as to whether Mr Lloyd George would undertake a land campaign in the autumn. He declared that Mr Outhwaite had no authority to speak for tlie Government. The latter was not likely to introduce a Single Tax Bill.

Ths Master of Elibank, in an interview, denied that Mr Lloyd George had at any time raised the question of his resignation with a view to an independ-

ent compaign

Lord Lansdowne, speaking at a meeting of the Rural League, outlined the Unionists' future land policy. He favoured State aid to land purchase when the conditions and opportunities were favourable, and advocated rural banks, improvement in housing, and effective agricultural education.
