OIL TANK TONNAGE.

'Although at' the present time the amount of oil tank tonnage- under construction constitutes a record, still further orders are being reported. Last year there were ordered to be built in the United Kingdom 18 oil tankers, aggregating 78,250 tons gross, while contracts were placed abroad for 13, of 58,550 tons gross, or a total of 31 vessels, of 136,900 tons gross. Since January Ist this year further contracts have been placed in the United Kingdom for the construction of 24 oil tankers, totalling 160,460 tons gross, and contracts jiavo been placed with foreign builders for 12 oil tankers, ag-, gregating 51,540 tons, or a total this year of 36 vessels, of 212,000 tons gross. It will thus be seen that since January Ist last year thro have been ordered 67 tankers, of 348,000 tons gross.
