Tho dock strike committee has issued a statement regretting the circumstances leading to the King'% cancellation of his Royal Albert Dock engagement, but expressing their indebtedness to and .respect for His Majesty. Tho strike leaders attribute tho cancellation of the visit to tho King's sympathy for the sufferers by the strike.

The Port of London Authority will begin work on the dock extension without any ceremony.
