The weather became very cold and stormy, with rain, hail, snow and sleet on the higher levels. The seas were very heavy on the east coast, and the conditions are still somewhat unsettled there and in Foveaux Strait. Present indications are for moderate to strong southerly winds generally, veering to south easterly northward of Cook Strait but backing to westerly elsewhere. Showery weather is due about East Capo and in Foveaux Strait; cool and changeable, but with fair weather prevailing generally. The barometer will show little movement, but there will be a failing tendency shortly :in the southern districts.
