> Rotorua, Juno 30. Tho Hon. W. D. S. Macdonald addressed a largo meeting here to-night. He. said a progressive public works policy was essential to tho proper development of the country. Nativeland owners should bo placed on the same footing «« Europeans as regards local taxation, but safeguards were necessary in respect of land dealing. Next session he would introduce mi amendment to tho Native Land bill, embodying the suggestions of the Native Land Court judges based on their ■experience of the 1909 Act. He paid a compliment to Sir James Carroll who had endeavoured to do hie duty to both the Maoris and the Europeans.
