OBJECTION TO THE MEN'S LEAD-

ERS

THE HANDLING OF MEAT

RENEWED OPPOSITION PROPOSED

(Received June 10, 10.30 p.m.)

London, June 10

A leading employer states that the masters declined to hold any communication at present with the transport workers 1 leaders. Should the men appoint new leaders doubtless the employers would reconsider their at present unalterable attitude.

Mr Gosling, speaking at Tower Hill, said they wanted a standard wage for all the Port of London men, but they woro unable to agree to compulsory arbitration.

Mr Will Thorne urged the immediate picketing, of the railway stations and Smithfield to prevent the handling of meat.

Mr G. Lansbury, M.P., said that if the Government really wished to keep open food supplies they should abolish the Port of London Authority and replace it with a board representing the masters and men equally.

Owing to the striko the quartern loaf is a halfpenny dearer.
