A STRANGE PROPHECY

Davios, of Karon :—
When only King of Prussia, William 1. was present at tho opening of ono of the national fair 3. As ho was strolling round a gipwy saluted and cried out,
"finch, dor Kaiser." "No, no," remarked the King, "I am not an Empoior. I%m King William of Prussia." "But you will bo an Emperor," an-1 swered tho gipsy. "And when," inquired tho King, smiling," am I to become an Emperor F" Aftor a moment's thought the gipsy said: "Think or' the revolution of 1848. Now tako tho' numbers of this year and repeat it as follows:— 1849 ' ' i 1 8 4 9 1871 "This is tho year whon you will become an Emperor of Germany." "And how long will I he Emperor?" inquired tho King. "To your death." "And when will that be ?" insisted tho King. "You can detiM-mino this yourself. Repeat again: 1871 1 a 7 1 188 S." "Will the Gorman Empire continue*?" "No; repeat again: 1888 1 c 8 8 < 1913."
