CORRESPONDENCE.
THE DAIRY PRODUCE OUTPUT.
(To tho Editor of "The Colonist.")
Sir, —In your issue of the 14th inst is an article dealing with the industries of the Dominion in which you quote figures said to have been taken from the census returns. I notico tho value of the output from tho dairy factories' in the Nelson province is set down at £13,746. You have either made n serious mis-print or tho officials responsibly for compiling xhc-s-e figures have been doing some very poor guessing. To .show how unreliable these figures are, I might state that "the value of the output from the Golden Bay factory alone was between £13,000 and £14,000, whilst the total value of the- output from tho butter and cheese factories in the Takaka and Collingwood counties would exceed £30,000. If you could add to this tho outputs from ' tho several other factories in the province you would then bo enabled to give those of] your readers who may bo interested in the dairying industry amor« accurate estimate of tho value of last year's output of butter and cheese from tho factories in the NeLson province. Thanking you in anticipation. I am, etc., F. PAGE, Chairman Golden Bay Dairy Factory Company. [The figures wcro quoted from a digest of the census return and, as our correspondent point-out, tire obviously incorrect as regards the dairy produce output in tin's province. The detailed returns should be available at an eaily date.—Ed, ' 'The Colonist.'' ]
