Dunedin, May 15. The Otago Education Board appointed Mr. Mitchell (Oamaru) and Mr. Fleming (Balclutha) as delegates to tkft Wellington comeroneo re the Local Govorniri'Mit Bill. The Board passed a resolution viewing with appreheh«:on tb« proposals contained in tho measuro as iieiiu; retrograde- and likely to operate detrimentally upon education, and that tho attumpt to cast part of tho cost of primary ediication on tho local rates is destructive of the national character of tho education system, and entails new burdens upon the taxpayers without providing any compensating advantage.
